Tibet. The land of our tears — tears of joy, tears of pain, and everything in between. The mountains, the people, the Tibetan way of life, harsh yet simple and so beautiful. The mountains remind you of how small you are and how trivial most of your problems. The people are generous, kind, accepting and tolerant and are incredible teachers in how to let go of anger, pride, envy and greed.
The Tibetan way of life is easy to observe every moment of every day. We were so fortunate to witness a traditional barley harvest where the men bring in the harvest, and the women separate the grain from the chaff using hand woven baskets and big electric fans.
So many life lessons abundantly present yet hidden from most of humankind. Tibet may be the best kept secret on the planet. A harsh yet tender place providing a very fertile garden for growing as a human being in this complex and ailing world.

Lyrics

Dark waters of pain
Sweep me away
Fertile fields of joy
Feeding my vision
Abundance of lessons
Season my plate
Bitter and sweet
A bountiful harvest

The land of my tears
Hidden underground
The well of my soul
Fills up with emotion
My best kept secret
A tender place
A garden for growing
This land of my tears.

Storms of my life
Bring floods of renewal
To dry cracked Earth
Of my withered dreams
The mountains of pride
Eroding inside me
A constant unveiling
Of my truest self

The land of my tears
Hidden underground
The well of my soul
Fills up with emotion
My best kept secret
A tender place
A garden for growing
This land of my tears.
